The foundation contributes to projects of historical significance and the efforts of Norwegian seafarers becoming widely known, ensuring that these projects reach as many people as possible

Oslo Maritime Foundation is a major contributor to and supporter of The Liberation Convoy 2025. The Foundation is eager to celebrate the convoy’s and its participants’ work to illuminate Norwegian seafarers’ historically important efforts and contributions to society during times of crisis and war.

The convoy’s ability to improve the understanding of and generate interest in Norwegian shipping and its history is also appreciated by the Foundation, which actively support efforts to restore, maintain and protect historic artifacts as well as paying respect to seamen and officers that joined the war efforts on behalf of Norway and the free world.

The mission of the foundation is also to support initiatives covering the energy transition and ensuring that Norwegian shipping industry will stay competitive through well educated seafarers and rapid adoption of competitive and sustainable technology.

Oslo Maritime Foundation was originally founded by Oslo Shipowners’ Association and Oslo Seafarers’ Association back in 1892, when it was named Kristiania International Mariners’ Home. The Board consists of members appointed by the founding associations.
